Thanks to AF, NKC, Costa Koi and MO for their excellent reviews, they are very informative and they have had a very positive response.
Menu of the Day Recommendations: LA PORRITA their Menu del Dia is FAR superior to the average with a better choice and quality with bigger portions, a really good choice at 10€ thanks to NKC our resident reviewer for this information.

All as per usual. All very friendly - Good toilets freshly decorated - good country style, menu in english and spanish.
We had :
2x Aguacat Gambas
Ens. Casa
Ens. Mixta
Tortill Francesa
2x Albondigas Salsa Pat
Sol. Ternera Plancha
4x Pan
3x Agua
2x Marqu. Caceres Blanc
The PORRITA is a good rustic restaurant and the QUALITY of the food INCLUDING the steaks is very good. BUT I cannot be sure HOW they cook their steaks. They always have good beef but I am sorry to say the 'method' varies. I hope to clarify this with a master chef in scotland but porritas steaks are nicely cooked but not pan fried or grilled all the time - On more than 50% of occasions,I THINK they seem to STEAM their steaks. It seems to depend on who is in the kitchen. Sometimes the steaks are pan-fried or grilled and turnout EXCELLENT. But on the nights that they SEEM to steam them, I do get dissapointed.
With 2 bottles of wine and tip it came to 100 euros.
Santiago Restaurant
Alhaurin el Grande

We had some friends over for the weekend and decided to try the Santiago restaurant after seeing a flyer advertising flamenco dancing on Sunday evening.
It was our first visit and I reckon the first of many. Lovely courtyard seating with a small set up for the dancing, which started at 2130 for about half an hour.
The staff were English and were extremely professional and friendly.
A very varied menu from sushi to pate, fillet steak to Thai chicken curry - something surely for everybody's taste.
All four of us agreed the food was beautifully cooked without a single complaint and I can be a bit picky - if it's not right - it goes back I don't like paying for something that's not right - I'm a Yorkshire woman after all.
For cocktails for me and Sue, 3 courses each, bottle of pretty good wine, water and a soft drink the bill was about €160, which considering the standard I thought was very good. Will definitely visit again.

We were at the ANFORAS again last evening and, once again, had a superb dinner.
Party of 5 persons.........
5 starters
5 main courses
2 L water
5 bottles house wine... VERY GOOD
All for 150.00 euros plus tip.
Superb modern Spanish cooking, very friendly staff, some good English spoken. Two beautifull salons......one smoking one not and , at least one private dining room for about ? 12 plus persons.
Superb decorations like a greek temple, NOT overpowering. They also have a very good green "deck" or terrace.
At the centre of town, go up the hill in front of the BAR ROSA and carry on about 500 to 600 metres and you will see a big dark red signboard.
They are closed tuesdays.
PS We often go to the HIGERA and the SARDINIA which are both excellent.
Also ALI RUMSDENS under the old and NOW the new owners.......both very good. They are now changing the name. MRS CHIPPY, a fish and chip takeaway, opposite Mercadona, is excellent. NB They close at 2100 hours. ALI RUMSDENS close about 2200.

From Supersol on your left walk up C/Gerald Brenan towards Alhaurin de la Torre. Take the third turning on your left by the Video shop. Walk to the end of the block it is on the left-hand corner opposite a hairdressers and diagonally opposite a coffee bar.
They have tapas, menu del dia and a la carte. Open Monday to Thursday with a break the back end of the afternoon; open Friday and Saturday from 8.30 ´til closing (I presume that´s very late). Toilets are very clean. They have a large function room downstairs too.
Good prices. Today we had a tapa of albondigas (2 balls), bacalao, gambas frito (4) and a finely chopped mixed salad along with 2 x beer, 1 largish agua con gas and a moscatel. Whole lot came to 7.60 euros. The tapas were .60c each. The Bacalao was so good that she´s given me the recipe!
