Planning for the 12th Festival of the Orange

Saturday 24th May

Plaza Alameda

11:00. Traditional rockets announcing the opening of the festival. Authorities will visit all the stalls located in Alameda Square, where food and agricultural products, handicrafts and Coín’s tourist offer are shown.

All those attending the opening will be given a glass of Spanish wine.

12:00. Verdiales performance.

12:00 - 14:30. Reception of desserts made out of oranges taking part in the contest. All desserts will be given 20 €. There will be three prizes.
1st prize: 210 € and gift.
2nd prize: 180 € and gift.
3rd prize: 150 € and gift.

13:00. Bands and popular dance groups will provide entertainment along the day. Dance grupos from
the school of Pepi Fernández.

13:30. Tasting of Wine and local typical salad made with oranges (“Ensaladilla de naranjas”) for adults
and refreshing orange juice for children.

15:00. “Sopa Hervía” tasting with oranges for everybody attending the event with the collaborationn ofFelix Mesa Saborido and the Brotherhood “Hermandad del Santísimo Cristo del Perdón y de la Vera
Cruz”.

16:00. Musical shows Hill take place along the afternooon in Alameda Square.

17:00. Tasting of desserts from the contest.

20:00. Photography and dessert contest prize-giving. Exhibitors and companies involved in the festival will be given a gift.

Plaza de la Villa

11:00 – 18:00
Charity Street Market organizad by several local associations: “Camino para Renacer”, “Asociación de
familiares de enfermos de Alhzeimer” and “Asociación Amigos Especiales”.
Antigüo Convento de Santa María

21.00. Violin and violoncello, performed by Fathi Ben Yakoub and Mathieu Saglio (Music from both shores of the Mediterranean). Concert included in the Musical Circuit of Junta de Andalucia. Invitations to be collected at Casa de la Cultura or ten minutes before the concert starts.
Plaza Bermúdez de la Rubia (Plaza del Pescao)

22.00. Closing show in Bermúdez de la Rubia Square presented by José Morales, who will welcome the
audience and will introduce the speeches of the Mayor, Mr. Gabriel Clavijo Sánchez and the Tourism
Town Councillor, Mr. Daniel François Hendrikx.

Festival speech by the singer and actor Hugo Salazar (contestant in the second edition of the TV show Operación Triunfo).

Prize-giving: the Fifth Honorary Orange Prize will be given to Mrs. Ana María Sánchez Corado in
acknowledgement of her human quality and her important performance heading the associaton
“Camino para Renacer”

Performance by María Millán Solano, a young artist from Coín and popular festival, entertainment provided by the musical band “Coincidentes”
